A Severe Addiction to Technological Change

Contributions:

Technological change is like an opiate to many. To have the newest car, stereo, or computer drives many to ignore the real reason for acquiring technology and has the worship or depend on technology as if it is a drug that sustains their technology as if it is a drug that sustains their intellect and spirit. What is the intrigue of new technology? Why is ten year old technology not as potent? It seems that it is not the technology that has the real addictive power, but the change in technology. Does the change sustain an entire priesthood that project a pseudo spirituality by guiding others to the use of the latest innovation? Change to have a better technology and marginal if any improved functionality is driving an influential segment of western culture.
