Winnipeg born artist David Ross and partner Danish born Folmer Hansen formed Hansen-Ross Pottery which operated in Fort Qu'Appelle Saskatchewan from the mid 1950's to 2005.

The pottery was made from Saskatchewan Clay. The Art Board sponsored workshops and provided informal tours for local school children. Gradually the business grew so that Hansen-Ross Pottery Craft House at Fort Qu'Appelle welcomed thousands of visitors annually. Their reputation spread so far away as Montreal and Los Angeles. Then gained international acclaim in many countries around the world.

They did not work separately they balanced their responsibilities. Ross the extrovert explained technique while Hansen demonstrated on the wheel. While Hansen did most of the throwing David Ross attended to the firing and the glazing.

Schooled and grew up in Winnipeg. Attended Fine Arts in Manitoba where he received a Masters Degree he selected pottery as his vocation then attended Handicraft School of Gothenburg Sweden. He engaged in several small workshops in Copenhagen, Denmark while there he met and worked briefly with Folmer Hansen, a local potter, native to Denmark.

In 1954, in Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan, he established a craft house.
