About Mel
Mel Bolen is a Saskatchewan artist who lives near Humbolt. He is a ceramic artist who creates beautiful jars and dishes. When he first started out making pottery, he was hard for cash. He was making things that were fancy mugs and goblets. In 1971, he was able to buy an old church for $500 as a house and studio. The land around his home and studio has inspired him to create some of his works. In 1981, after marriages, and separations, His wife Holden created a clothing boutique in Humboldt while Mel earned a respectable income on the sale of his pottery. He continues to create great works of art even today.
